Though it may have been
over thirty years ago, some incidents, like the Xenia tornado
and Charlie's crash seem like they happened yesterday. The
tornado touched down only 13.6 miles from Dayton, but wreaked
havoc on little Xenia, population around 25,000. April 3,
1974, a day which the folks in Xenia will never
forget.

Although the
tornado in the picture above is a quarter mile away, this half
mile wide swirling wind measured an F-5 on the Fujita scale.
The rank reserved only for the most violent ones.

A typical
crew of that time was Mike Miller's crew, E-14. Many crewmen
wanted to help the people of Xenia, and the author of
Legacy was no exception. That's him in back row
on far right. Please remember that the photo was
taken over thirty years ago.
