Want to see what started it all? Wilbur and Orville's father
brought home a toy from one of his trips, and gave it to the
boys. They couldn't stop playing with it. They didn't know how
it worked; only that it did. Once the rubber band was wound,
they'd release it and it would hover a few seconds.
Also, when the two became older, a certain hero of theirs in
Europe could glide for over a hundred feet before landing. The
brothers loved to hear about anything pertaining to Otto
Lilienthal, their soaring hero.
